Batur, Greatest Lake in Bali

Lake Batur
Hello all ..... How are you?

Today I'll tell you one more beautiful attractions in Bali. Located in Kintamani, Bangli, I'll take you around Lake Batur.

But first I want to tell the history of Lake Batur. Scientist said, the lake formed by the eruption of Mount Batur Batur that occurred tens thousands years ago. This eruption formed a vast crater, then the crater is filled with water and so was born the largest lake in Bali. After the massive eruption that destroyed the ancient mountain, volcanic activity continued until finally formed a mountain that seems to grow from within the crater.

Beautiful scenery will immediately greet you when I get Penelokan. Penelokan is the gateway to the lake Batur. From Penelokan we can enjoy the beauty of Lake Batur and Mount Batur robustness.

If you're still curious, you can get to Lake Batur. Along the way you will find rocks that spewed from the eruption of Mount Batur, agricultural community, forests, mountains and the lake itself. It's amazing.

You can visit several locations such as Toya Bungkah,  Trunyan traditional village taht located across the lake and Ulun Danu Temple . Toya Bungkah a source of hot water. There has been provided accommodation which has been professionally managed.

While the village Trunyan a traditional village located on other side of the lake. To reach the village could use a boat or a newly created road. Trunyan is a very unique village. Villagers who died were not buried, but only laid on the ground. But strangely does not cause a foul odor.

Other places is Pura Ulun Danu Batur which is located at the eastern end of Lake Batur. The view here is no less attractive than other places. If you are interested in visiting this place please come to Bali and enjoy.

Kerta Gosa, the Ancient Court of Bali

For several days I didn't post  an article. After earlier I discussed  Taman Ujung in Regency of Karangasem, now I will discuss Kerta Gosa which is located in the  Semarapura city, Klungkung.

Kerta Gosa is building that called "bale" which is part of a complex of royal buildings of Semarapura and has been built around the year 1686 by the first holder of the throne of the kingdom of Klungkung Ida I Dewa Agung Jambe. Kertagosa is place where the discussion of all things concerned with security, prosperity and justice area or called as ancient Balinese royal court.

Kerta Gosa consists of two buildings that are bale Kerta Gosa and bale Kambang. Called as bale Kambang because this building is surrounded by a pond called Taman Gili. The uniqueness of Kerta Gosa are found on the ceiling which are decorated with Kamasan traditional puppet paintings that tell the laws and type of punishment for the guilty.

The painting are divided into six terraced rows . Bottom row illustrates the theme of the story comes from Tantra.Second row from the bottom illustrates the theme of the story Bimaswarga in Swargarakanaparwa . The next row tell about the story of Kasyapa Bagawan . The theme of the fourth row taken from Palalindon that describe the characteristics or the meaning of the earthquake mythologically. Further story from the theme of Bimaswarga described on the fifth row of the building . In the last row or sixth is occupied by a picture that describe nirvana lives. Besides of  Kerta Gosa building roof , puppet paintings also decorate the ceiling of the Bale Kambang. On the  Kambang Bale palate decorated by puppet  paintings from the Ramayana and Sutasoma Kakawin story.

Kerta Gosa also once functioned as the court hall during the Dutch colonial bureaucracy in Klungkung (1908-1942) and since the appointment of a chief regional officer indigenous kingdoms in Klungkung (Ida I Dewa Agung Klungkung State) in 1929. In fact, ex fixtures of the court like chair and carved wooden desk and using golden paint (prada) still there.

The objects are evidence of Traditional customary courts relics as it has prevailing in Klungkung in the colonial period (1908-1942) and the period of Japanese occupation (1043-1945). In 1930, restoration of puppet paintings found in Kerta Gosa and Bale Kambang ever done by the artists of Kamasan painting. Last paintinge restoration done in 1960.

This is the end of my story about Kerta gosa. Hopefully this will be useful references when you decided to visit Bali.

Taman Ujung, Evidence of Karangasem Kingdom Glory

Taman Ujung Soekasada, also known as Park Ujung is located on the seashore, village of Ujung, Karangasem. This park is evidence of the triumph of Kingdom Karangasem. From the history and based on research, this park is the result of acculturation between Balinese and European that reflects Balinese local genius .

The architect of  this park's development is the King of  Karangasem Kingdom with the architectural and aesthetic ability . He successfully take advantage of the landscape and the environment condition surrounding which terraced with a background, mountain springs, rivers and beaches. In that construction he involves the Dutch architect named Van Den Hentz and a Chinese architecture named Loto Ang.

Taman Ujung was built in 1919 and was inaugurated in 1921. This park was built by king Karangsem used as a resort or to entertain important guests like kings or Foreign Country Head of Government who visited the Kingdom of Karangasem. In this park there are three large ponds , in the middle of the northern pond there is the main building and connected by two bridges. Next to the pool there are gardens flower pots and statues.

Unfortunately this magnificent cultural heritage has been destroyed by the earthquake that happen when Mount Agung erupted in 1963, primarily due to the earthquake that occurred in 1979. Although in ruins, but the impression of majestic in the past are still visible a view of beauty.

Taman Ujung has been reorganized and became a very busy tourist attraction visited by tourists. Besides this place is also often used as an object by the photographer and prewedding photo location.

Besakih Temple

Besakih Besakih Temple is located at the eastern tip of Bali island in the district of Rendang, Karangasem regency. This temple was built on the slopes of Mount Agung. This temple is famous around the world. And also known as the mother of all temples in Bali.

This temple was built by a spiritual figure from Java named Rishi Markandeya. Before the Temples was built, the place was a jungle unspoiled.

This temple is the largest temple complex in Bali which consists of a main Temples and 18th temple companion. This temple is also a center of Hindu religion in Bali. Upgrading of the largest Temples is the temple. In this temple there are three main temples symbolizing the concept of Tri Murti of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

According to Hindu belief, Agung mountain is home to the ancestral spirits and the gods. So it is very appropriate if the Temples Besakih was built on the slopes of this mountain.

In the temple is the biggest religious ceremony held every 100 years or so-called Eka Dasa Rudra and 10 years referred to the Panca Wali Krama. Because symbolically Pura Besakih is "madyaning bhuwana" (central world) as a place to worship the Lord with all its manifestations (strength) which controls all over the world, namely Iswara, Maheswara, Brahma, Rudra, Mahadeva, Sangkara, Vishnu, Sambhu. This is consistent with the concept "Pengider-Ider. bhuwana"
